Decathlon Chooses Exotec to Revolutionize Its European e-Commerce Logistics

April 27, 2021

Innovation, simplicity, and efficiency are the shared corporate values that have brought together two organizations: a game changer in the field of intralogistics, Exotec and the famous sports and leisure retailer, Decathlon. After deploying multiple Skypod systems throughout Europe, the USA and Japan, and after doubling our turnover in 2020, we are particularly “delighted and proud” that the world leader in sports retailing has chosen our solution to leverage in its e-commerce warehouses.

Announced at the end of April, this partnership with Decathlon is focused on:

  • Accelerating e-commerce activity
  • Improving inventory supply to in-network stores
  • Building a more reactive and efficient supply chain
  • Improving employee workstation ergonomics

To achieve this, Exotec is deploying a 6,000 sqm Skypod system with new “double deep” technology to two of Decathlon’s logistics sites in France. One of these sites is the company’s regional warehouse located in Ferrières-en-Brie (Paris area). This is a major step for the co-founders of Exotec, Romain Moulin and Renaud Heitz, whose aim since 2015 has been to innovate and implement logistics solutions that are as agile as they are efficient for retailers.

A sustainable partnership driven by innovation and international development

Beyond the expected benefits of the Skypod system technology, Decathlon also intends to take advantage of Exotec’s ability to integrate complete solutions and to develop a road map of future innovations.

“Exotec’s ability to combine performance, speed of implementation and commitment to deliver were decisive when making our choice. In addition, the technology is extremely flexible, allowing us to tailor the investment to our current needs and to adjust it when new requirements arise.”
– Jérôme Saillour, Logistics Transformation Manager at Decathlon
