Skypod System optimizes fulfillment processes with intelligent goods-to-person robotics
Venlo, 9 June 2026 – DSV, a global leader in transport and logistics, entered a partnership with Exotec, a specialist in warehouse robotics. Exotec equipped DSV’s logistics center in Venlo with the end-to-end Skypod System.
With approximately one hundred autonomous Skypod robots, DSV is modernizing its warehouse operations and taking a significant step in optimizing its supply chain in the Netherlands. The Skypod System supports fulfillment operations for various retail brands and manages approximately ninety thousand bins and trays. This enables DSV to rapidly scale processing capacity and storage density without major structural modifications as demand or product assortment changes.
Higher Performance, Flexibility and Scalability
The goods-to-person solution increases operational efficiency and enhances the warehouse’s flexibility and scalability. This enables DSV to consistently meet strict SLA requirements, control operational costs, and maintain resilience during peak periods such as seasonal campaigns. The operation, including a mezzanine level dedicated to returns, incorporates additional functionalities such as the automatic opening, closing and labeling of boxes.
“We are proud to support DSV in optimizing its Venlo site,” says Jan Heijblom, Senior Sales Executive at Exotec Benelux. “Our Skypod System is designed for environments with high demands for speed, accuracy and scalability. This is essential for leading 3PL providers such as DSV, which must continuously deliver high performance and flexibility. The solution perfectly matches the dynamics of the retail and e-commerce industry.”
Barbara Klep, Managing Director of the Contract Logistics division at DSV, adds: “In our warehouse, we use state-of-the-art storage systems and innovative automation to respond optimally to our customers’ requirements and growth ambitions. The Skypod System gives us the agility to adapt to changing needs while safeguarding our service levels and sustainable performance. In this way, Exotec contributes to more reliable, efficient and sustainable distribution from the Netherlands.”
