Polish Logistics Service Provider ILS Rolling out Exotec Skypod Systems to Support Growth Plans

Automated intralogistics systems to serve sites in East Central Europe

Munich-Airport– Exotec, a global warehouse robotics provider, is equipping Polish service company ILS Sp. Z o.o. with several Skypod systems in collaboration with long-standing partner A1 Sorter.

ILS operates 12 sites in Eastern Europe, serving customers in the automotive, food, and chemical industries. Facing rapid growth at their parent company, Inter Cars, and rising competition for both market share and skilled labor, the existing infrastructure could no longer meet demands. ILS turned to automation to ease these pain points and maintain reliable three-times-daily deliveries.

Modular design meets scalability

ILS selected Exotec for its modular design, short implementation timelines, and ability to expand warehouses without disrupting operations. With Exotec, warehouse throughput across all SKUs is up to five times higher than competitors.

The first system was installed at ILS’ headquarters in Zakroczym (Mazovian Voivodeship), which supports distribution across central, northern, and eastern Poland, as well as the Baltic states and Ukraine. The site, equipped with 200 autonomous robots and 60,000 containers, passed final acceptance in December 2024. Expansion of the facility, already underway, will be completed in two stages by early 2026.

In addition, a new warehouse in Stęszew near Poznań will begin operations in September 2026, while the Brașov (Romania) site is scheduled for final acceptance in September 2025 to serve all local customers.

“Thanks to Exotec’s Skypod technology, we can implement a solution that is tailored to the requirements of our organisation and supports our further growth in the long term,” says Rafał Tomaszewski, IT Systems and Solutions Manager, ILS. “By choosing Exotec, we are prepared for the challenges and opportunities in our growth markets, which has been confirmed by both the innovation and efficiency with which the projects are being run.”

“Our project with ILS shows how amazingly automation solutions such as Exotec’s Skypod system can transform logistics in the long term,” says Krzysztof Skiba, Chief Sales Officer, A1 Sorter. “As an integrator, we are delighted to contribute to the successful implementation with our experience and to set new standards in efficiency and scalability together with Exotec and ILS.”

“We are delighted to equip ILS with several of our powerful systems,” says Andreas Stöckl, eVP Sales Central Europe, Exotec. “ILS has a detailed and concrete business strategy – and with our Skypod system, we can provide all our customers with optimum support in implementing it.”
