13th January, LONDON: Exotec, a global provider of warehouse robotics, has expanded its partnership with Renault Group, with the construction of a new 24,000m2 site automated warehouse in Brühl, Germany.
The warehouse is the same size as four football pitches and will be home to 89 of Exotec’s cutting-edge Skypod robots, enabling a throughput of over 1,600 containers per hour and capacity for over 1,500 order lines per hour.
The site’s construction is expected to be completed in June 2026, with Renault Deutschland planning to use the automated warehouse to supply car dealers throughout Germany with spare parts for its models.
It comes as part of Renault Deutschland’s efforts to modernise its logistics capabilities across the continent with state-of-the-art technology from Exotec, including Exotec’s in-house warehouse execution software, Deepsky.
The deal follows on from the activation of Exotec’s Skypod system at Renault’s French site in Villeroy last year, where the warehouse has reduced its order processing time from 120 minutes down to 15 minutes, significantly enhancing efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Andreas Stöckl, EVP Sales Central Europe at Exotec, said, “We are delighted to be involved in the modernisation of Renault Germany’s logistics site. Our Skypod system enables flexible, scalable, and efficient warehousing ideally suited to the high demands of the automotive industry. Together, we are setting new standards for spare parts logistics in Germany.”
Oliver Schieritz, Director Customer Service & Aftersales at Renault Deutschland AG, said, “With the expansion of our site in Brühl and the collaboration with Exotec, we are investing specifically in innovative technologies to further optimise our spare parts logistics. With its Skypod system, Exotec is making a significant contribution to making the supply of our dealers throughout Germany even more reliable, efficient, and sustainable.”
