Exotec by Dexter accelerates its expansion in Spain with new logistics automation projects

July 1,2025

Leading automated warehouse solution provider has signed agreements with six companies for new projects in 2025

Exotec by Dexter, a leader in intralogistics automation using scalable robotics, has significantly expanded its portfolio in Spain, implementing its Skypod® system in warehouses at six large national and international companies in 2025.

Spain is one of the fastest-growing European markets in warehouse automation, with logistics investments rising by 11.2% in 2024. The country’s most dynamic sectors, including health, fashion, editorial distribution and veterinary medicine, are already relying on Exotec’s technology to transform their operations.

The six new customers include:

Alliance Healthcare – Pharmaceutical and healthcare products

The company automated its warehouse in Viladecans (Barcelona) in 2025 with the Skypod® system. The project is set to improve the efficiency and quality of the company’s pharmaceutical services, thanks to automatic order sequencing and full integration of the order process.

ESBO Logistics – Multi-client logistics

ESBO was the first logistics operator in Spain to adopt Skypod®, with a fleet of 48 robots. The system is fully operational at its Sallent centre, achieving maximum productivity under the “product-to-person” model. The project was completed in just six months and allows for high scalability, enabling ESBO to operate with multiple clients and across different sectors.

Gepork Group – Veterinary product distribution and swine genetics

Gepork is building the country’s first 100% robotised logistics centre with Skypod®. The system allows for products to be stored up to 12 metres high and ensures accurate and fast order picking. With an investment of more than €11 million, the project will promote indirect employment and position Gepork as a European trailblazer in the sector.

Sport Street – Sports retail & urban fashion

The group behind Décimas, Tenth and Polinesia is automating its warehouse in Guadalajara to respond to the boom in e-commerce and the company’s international expansion. With 18 robots and 20,000 bin locations, the system will quadruple storage density, improve ergonomics and streamline returns management. The project reinforces its commitment to modernising its logistics operation.

Penguin Random House – Publisher distribution

The publishing group has chosen Skypod® for its new distribution centre in Cerdanyola del Vallès. The system will allow up to 25,000 orders to be managed daily, quadrupling productivity. It is the first large publishing group worldwide to integrate this technology, which also optimises sustainability and ergonomics in its operations.

Hamelyn – Buying and selling used books

The leading circular economy platform in the publishing sector will implement the Skypod® system in its logistics centre in Coslada. With more than one million SKUs, the project will multiply productivity per operator, speed up order preparation and increase storage capacity. This commitment reinforces Hamelyn’s commitment to sustainability and technological innovation and complements its international expansion.

“These projects reflect the momentum that logistics automation is experiencing in Spain, and the confidence generated by our flexible, modular and scalable model,” said César Briones, Managing Director of Exotec by Dexter. “Our goal is to partner with companies to address their present and future challenges, delivering cutting-edge technology, efficiency and a clear focus on customer service.

“Skypod® technology, implemented in more than 100 projects in 15 countries, is redefining the future of intralogistics, and Spain is already a forerunner in this transformation.”
