Matra Électronique, a subsidiary of MBDA France, is a French electronics company. Specializing in providing solutions for the defense, space, aerospace, and security sectors, and with 440 employees, Matra Électronique has just reached a major milestone in its history.

The challenge
With a catalog containing numerous component and material references, Matra Électronique faced several logistical challenges:
- Increase storage capacity
- Manage a wide variety of products
- Need a high-performance, reliable picking system
- High security constraints
- Adapting to new industry standards
The Exotec Solution
After extensive research, Matra Électronique selected Exotec’s Skypod® robotic solution to equip its new Industry 4.0 production site in Venette.
The installation includes:
- 11 Skypod® robots deployed
- 500 m² of optimized logistics space
- 3 strategically positioned picking stations
- 29 levels of bin storage
- A storage height of around 10 meters

The results
This logistical transformation has generated significant benefits:
- Order processing productivity doubled
- 25% increase in storage density
- Significant improvement in the quality of life at work for employees thanks to automated parts routing at speeds of up to 4 meters per second
- Increased reliability of the connected system in a highly secure environment
A new story
In August 2024, the 430 employees of Matra Électronique celebrated the inauguration of this new warehouse in Venette. The move from the historic Lacroix Saint Ouen site was completed after a three-week summer closure.
At the inauguration in November 2024, Matra was able to present the Exotec system to its partners and employees. This marks a new chapter in the company’s history, and we are proud to have been part of it.
The complete transition of design and electronic production activities to this 4.0 warehouse perfectly illustrates Matra Électronique’s commitment to innovation and operational excellence. This is a significant milestone for the company, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2025.
